Ubirr

Site famous for its rock art. It consists of a group of rocks outcropping on the edge of the Nadab floodplain where there are several natural shelters that have a collection of aboriginal rock paintings, some of which done ​​many thousands of years ago (40,000 BC). Most of the paintings were created about 2000 years ago. Some have been repainted until modern times and represent an example of representations called Xray Art in fact depict the subject as if it were seen on X-ray. This art depicts the creation of some ancestors as well as animals in the area, (barramundi, fish cat, red mullet, monitor lizards, long-necked turtle, possums and wallabies). From the top of the Ubirr rock there is a panoramic view of the floodplains and escarpments which is especially beautiful at sunset
