During the days we visited this beautiful city we decided to buy a card to travel on the entire Venetian transport network and we walked around small squares, alleys and fondamenta. Seeing empty San Marco square was a truly impressive moment, watching it then from the top of the bell tower our hearts tightened. The inextricable web of alleys and canals has a truly irresistible charm, even in this case seeing them almost deserted had a sad effect. Even the new Procuratie without the famous bars open and set up under the arcades and square, have made us understand what difficult and sad time we and this splendid city were experiencing.
