The End of the World, the capital of the Argentine province of Tierra del Fuego is the southernmost city in the world.
Ushuaia is located on the southern coast of the big island of Tierra del Fuego, in a landscape surrounded by mountains overlooking the Beagle Channel. The city has about 65,000 inhabitants.
Earlier, Puerto Williams in Chile was considered the most southern city, in fact it is located to the south of Ushuaia, but is not sufficiently populous to be considered a city. Even the most populated Punta Arenas is sometimes considered the southernmost city.
