Hong Kong

Hong Kong (香港, Xiānggǎng) – fragrant harbor – is a special administrative region of China.

Formed by a small peninsula on the southern coast of China (Kowloon) and 236 islands in the South China Sea, including the Hong Kong Island that is the second largest island after Lantau (the former name 烂头 岛 lan tau do, ” Island of the broken head). With the policy of “one country, two systems” Hong Kong enjoys administrative autonomy and its own currency, the Hong Kong dollar. Most important commercial and financial center, has links with all the ‘East Asia. It was been an important stop of the Australian mythical journey, thanks to an offer of Cathay Pacific, which provided the opportunity to choose two stops in Hong Kong with a ticket purchased, we stopped one day on the outward (and we were able to enjoy the magnificent Airport Hotel Regal Airport Hotel, where with one of their affiliate programs we had the room upon arrival (07:20)).

during the return stop we opted instead for a stay of 5 days with a hotel in Kowloon found on the internet through the asiarooms website, we have also purchased, onto the airplane, a transportation card with two transfers Airport – city and four days of free rides across the metropolitan transport network (it is also a rechargeable card with which you can shopping in shops) outrageous prices of the restaurants where we ate in two with 5 euros a meal rather than comprehensive. Chaotic city that we visited frantically trying to retrieve the most picturesque sites.Very interesting the covered walkways for pedestrians linking the various shopping malls.
Very interesting the one day excursion to the island of Lantau (at Disneyland, you say ….) no, but for visit the Po Lin Monastery where there is a statue of the Buddha among the largest in the world and an amazing gondola that makes the around the island, (sin that would be opened only three days after our visit)
a destination that we intend to visit again and recommend it for a lot of reasons.
