Kaminarimon (雷 门? “Thunder Gate”) with its Chochin, the big red paper lantern. Kaminarimon the door of entrance at the famous Nakamise dori, that leads to Sensoji Shrine. The sides of the Nakamise are always crowded with visitors and there are numerous stalls selling typical products: souvenirs, traditional clothes, samurai’s wigs, plush toys.
Among the culinary attractions of Nakamise must be mentioned Senbei, rice crackers, freshly prepared on the grill and seasoned in soy sauce, then you sell sweets of all kinds, from the traditional to the lollipop in the shape of Hello Kitty or Doraemon; fish skewered on sticks, yakisoba (fried buckwheat noodles to the plate) and yakitori (skewered grilled chicken).
The area around the temple also hosts many small shops and restaurants, as well as the playground of the Hanayashiki, theaters and many other temple structures.
