We flown from Rome to Keflavik with Lufthansa, after picked up our 4 × 4, shortly after midnight to bed. The morning after we leave the Berg hotel for the Golden Circle, pouring rain and a stormy wind but we don’t stop
We skip the Blue Lagoon we will return before departure and we head towards the park of Thingvellir, just the time spent walking from the parking lot to the visitor center and we are soaked with water, it is not really possible to continue the visit and so we resume the journey to reach the next destination: Geysir and Gullfoss, but after a few meters we come across the second parking lot in Thingvellir, it rains much less and we decide to stop, so we can quickly see the fracture between the tectonic plates and our first waterfall, the beautiful and powerful OAXARÀ falls.
We continue our journey always accompanied by rain and wind and arrive at Geysir, a geothermal area famous for its Geysers. Parking and walk among the bubbling pools, we see two or three sprays of the main geyser and go back to the car, Gullfoss is waiting for us, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland.
We park the car and set off to see this spectacle of nature, always accompanied by water and cold. We then head towards the Dyrholaey peninsula passing the Seljialandsfoss waterfall and the Skogafoss waterfall, all impressive demonstrations of the water’s natural power. We arrive at the Hotel Dyrholaey in the late afternoon.
